Partnership with Daily Bread

Founding Community & Retail Partner

From its earliest days, Danny Devine Studio established an ongoing partnership with Daily Bread, creating one of the organization’s most important and enduring community relationships.

The partnership builds upon Danny Devine’s longstanding connection with Daily Bread, where he created original hand-drawn designs and worked in the shop over the years. Following Danny’s passing, that relationship evolved into a lasting collaboration dedicated to preserving and sharing his artistic legacy.

Serving as an incubator for Danny Devine Studio, Daily Bread became the first permanent location where visitors could regularly experience and support the organization’s mission. Danny Devine Studio clothing, art prints, and other merchandise have remained continuously available within the shop.

Beyond its role as a retail partner, Daily Bread has hosted annual birthday celebrations, exhibitions, artist showcases, educational programs, and community events that have helped shape the growth of Danny Devine Studio.

Danny Devine Studio hosted the inaugural Danny Devine Birthday Celebration, beginning an annual tradition dedicated to honoring Danny’s life, artwork, and lasting impact on Pittsburgh’s creative community.

The first celebration featured an exhibition of Danny’s artwork, commemorative merchandise, hands-on screen-printing and heat-press activities, and the unveiling of a new Pittsburgh mural created by several of Danny’s friends.

The celebration has continued every August since 2021, bringing together family, friends, artists, and community members to remember Danny and share his work with new audiences.

Simply Devine: A Retrospective of Danny Devine

Danny Devine Studio collaborated with the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust to present Simply Devine: A Retrospective of Danny Devine in Downtown Pittsburgh.

The exhibition introduced the public to Danny’s life, artistic practice, and creative legacy through a substantial presentation of his work.

As one of the organization’s first major public exhibitions, the retrospective helped establish Danny Devine Studio’s commitment to preserving Danny’s artwork while creating meaningful opportunities for public engagement.

Black Butte Center for Railroad Culture × Siskiyou Arts Museum

Weed, California

Danny Devine Studio loaned original artwork for inclusion in End of the Line 2022, presented by the Black Butte Center for Railroad Culture and Siskiyou Arts Museum.

The exhibition introduced Danny’s artwork to audiences outside Pittsburgh and expanded the reach of his creative legacy through a public cultural gathering in Northern California.

In November 2022, Danny Devine Studio applied for and was approved for fiscal sponsorship through New Sun Rising, marking one of the organization’s most important early milestones.

The partnership provided DDS with nonprofit infrastructure and guidance as the organization began pursuing grants, philanthropic support, educational initiatives, and larger community partnerships.

New Sun Rising has remained one of Danny Devine Studio’s most valuable organizational partners. Scott Wolovich has become a dedicated advocate for the DDS foundation, helping guide its growth toward education-focused initiatives and introducing the organization to like-minded arts organizations, community leaders, and potential funders.

Those connections and ongoing support have helped strengthen Danny Devine Studio’s programs, partnerships, and long-term vision for a permanent community arts center in Pittsburgh.

Learn & Earn Youth Employment Partnership

Workforce Development Partners

Pittsburgh Public Schools × Westinghouse High School

Beginning in Fall 2022, Danny Devine Studio partnered with Pittsburgh Public Schools through the Learn & Earn Youth Employment Program, which connects Pittsburgh and Allegheny County youth with paid work experience, career exploration, and job-readiness training.

Danny Devine Studio welcomes one Westinghouse High School student intern during each fall and spring semester.

Interns gain practical experience through artwork preservation, print production, inventory management, exhibition preparation, event planning, and other aspects of operating a community arts organization.

The partnership remains an ongoing part of Danny Devine Studio’s commitment to mentorship, workforce development, and creative career exploration.

Ribbon Script: 4-Part Art Lesson

Danny Devine Studio launched its first original educational program with Ribbon Script: A 4-Part Art Lesson, presented in collaboration with Vault Art Studio.

Created to honor Danny Devine’s artistic legacy, the program introduced participants to his distinctive ribbon lettering style and creative techniques through a four-part instructional series.

The program marked the beginning of Danny Devine Studio’s original arts education work and helped establish the foundation for future classes, workshops, and school partnerships.

Danny Devine Birthday Celebration & Community Mural Unveiling

Danny Devine Studio hosted its third annual birthday celebration and unveiled a new large-scale mural along Penn Avenue.

The mural features an image of Danny against a vibrant background and includes the names of other lost loved ones within the community.

Located along a busy Pittsburgh corridor, the mural is seen by hundreds of people each day and remains a highly visible public tribute to remembrance, creativity, and community.

The celebration also included an exhibition of Danny’s artwork, merchandise releases, screen-printing, heat-press activities, and a gathering of family, friends, artists, and supporters.

Graffiti Lettering Workshop

Danny Devine Studio partnered with Assemble to present a graffiti lettering class as part of the organization’s after-school programming.

Led by artist Scott Brozovich, the workshop introduced students to graffiti lettering, typography, creative expression, and the visual language that influenced Danny Devine’s work.

Lettering & Typography with Hack the Future

Educational Partner

Assemble × Hack the Future

Danny Devine Studio continued its partnership with Assemble through the Hack the Future program, leading hands-on sessions focused on lettering and typography.

Artist Max Gonzales led instruction as students developed custom lettering and worked toward creating signage for Garfield Community Farm.

The program connected creative education with a real community project, demonstrating how art and design can support neighborhood organizations and public spaces.

The event also featured clothing, prints, and stickers while inviting the public to engage directly with screen printing and apparel production.

Environmental Justice Printmaking & Graffiti Writing Workshop

Danny Devine Studio partnered with New Sun Rising and the Community College of Allegheny County for an environmental justice printmaking and graffiti writing workshop.

Participants developed student-designed posters supporting environmental justice initiatives while exploring printmaking, graffiti lettering, visual communication, and advocacy.

Live Screenprinting Workshop

Danny Devine Studio hosted Screenprinting Saturday, a public event introducing visitors to the screen-printing process through hands-on participation.

Participants selected original designs, ink colors, and garments before printing their own items using professionally prepared screens.

Visitors could bring their own clothing or choose from blank garments available during the event.

Danny Devine Studio worked with Assemble at Avalon Elementary School as part of Assemble Days.

After viewing artwork by Danny Devine and Erin Devine, students created their own interpretations of the Pittsburgh skyline.

The workshop introduced students to local artwork, composition, personal expression, and visual storytelling while helping prepare for a collaborative summer program later that year.

Northgate Summer Camp

Danny Devine Studio partnered with Assemble, Northgate School District, and the Allegheny County Department of Children’s Initiatives to help deliver a free six-week summer camp for Northgate families.

The broader program provided science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics curriculum through hands-on, project-based learning.

Danny Devine Studio led programming every Friday throughout the camp, providing students with original visual arts lessons inspired by Danny’s creative process and artistic techniques.

The program marked one of Danny Devine Studio’s first extended youth education partnerships and established a relationship that continued the following summer.

This Magic Moment

Danny Devine Studio presented This Magic Moment, an exhibition focused on Danny Devine’s toner transfer artwork.

The exhibition highlighted one of the most recognizable mediums within Danny’s artistic career and offered visitors a closer look at his creative process.

The presentation also featured an installation of Danny’s personal desk, tools, and effects, recreating elements of his working environment and connecting the artwork to the everyday materials that surrounded his practice.

Launch of the Danny Devine Archive

In July 2024, Danny Devine Studio officially launched the Danny Devine Archive, beginning a long-term initiative to preserve, document, and catalog Danny Devine’s body of work.

Working alongside Danny’s longtime friend Evan Sanders, the organization established an archival process that includes photographing original artwork in a controlled light-box environment, creating high-resolution digital reproductions, scanning sketchbooks and black books, organizing photographs, and cataloging individual works.

The archive remains an active, ongoing initiative and continues to expand as additional artwork, photographs, sketchbooks, ephemera, and historical material are recovered and documented.

This preservation work supports future exhibitions, educational programming, publications, research, and public access to Danny’s artistic legacy.

The opening reception brought together artists, musicians, and members of the community for an evening of visual art, conversation, and creative exchange, with music by DJ Chocolate Milk Mountain.

Danny Devine Studio began an ongoing retail partnership with Love, Pittsburgh, making a curated collection of Danny Devine art prints available across the organization’s four store locations.

The partnership expanded year-round public access to Danny’s artwork and introduced his creative legacy to Pittsburgh residents, visitors, and supporters of locally made art.

Love, Pittsburgh continues to serve as an important retail partner and a trusted community platform for sharing Danny’s artwork throughout the city.

Danny Devine Studio presented Dannyland: An Immersive World of Graffiti & Art From the Mind of Danny Devine, a large-scale exhibition transforming Mixtape into an environment inspired by Danny’s artwork, imagination, friendships, and creative process.

The exhibition featured original artwork, graffiti, installations, archival material, interactive environments, and immersive elements that invited visitors to experience Danny’s creative world beyond a traditional gallery presentation.

The exhibition was made possible through the collaboration of Danny’s family, friends, and Pittsburgh’s creative community.

Running throughout the summer of 2025, Dannyland became one of the most ambitious public presentations of Danny’s work and a major milestone in Danny Devine Studio’s exhibition history.

Northgate Summer Camp — Year Two

Danny Devine Studio returned for a second consecutive summer as a programming partner for the Northgate Summer Camp.

DDS again led Friday arts programming throughout the six-week camp, providing students with hands-on creative experiences that complemented the broader STEAM curriculum.

The returning partnership reflected the success of the inaugural 2024 program and reinforced Danny Devine Studio’s growing role as a trusted youth education partner.

Heat Press Clothing Production

Danny Devine Studio began a new educational partnership with Manchester Youth Development Center by developing and teaching Heat Press Clothing Production as part of MYDC’s 2025 Camp Choice Summer Program.

Designed for rising fifth- through eighth-grade students, the course introduced participants to apparel production using professional heat-press equipment.

Students explored equipment safety, design development, garment preparation, transfer placement, and the process of producing finished clothing.

The program expanded Danny Devine Studio’s youth education work into practical, production-based learning and established a relationship that continued into the following school year.

Hot Off the Press: Clothing Production

Following the success of Danny Devine Studio’s summer Heat Press Clothing Production program, the organization was invited to expand its Manchester partnership through a full school-year course at Manchester Academic Charter School.

Beginning in August 2025, Hot Off the Press met every Monday throughout the school year and introduced students to apparel design, equipment safety, heat-transfer application, garment preparation, production workflow, and creative problem-solving.

As Danny Devine Studio’s first year-long educational program, Hot Off the Press marked an important expansion of the organization’s curriculum and demonstrated the growing demand for creative, career-connected apparel production education.

Screen Printing & Entrepreneurship

Josh Gibson Foundation × BOYS2MEN Mentorship Program

Danny Devine Studio partnered with the Josh Gibson Foundation through its BOYS2MEN Mentorship Program for sessions focused on entrepreneurship, creativity, and screen printing.

Students learned the fundamentals of the screen-printing process and printed their own Pittsburgh graphic while discussing how art, production, and design can become the foundation for creative careers and small businesses.

The partnership reflected Danny Devine Studio’s mission of using Danny’s artwork and strong belief in mentorship to connect with Pittsburgh’s next generation of students, artists, and entrepreneurs.

Northgate High School

Danny Devine Studio launched a collaborative mural project at Northgate High School with funding from the Light Education Initiative.

Scott Brozovich worked with students once each month from March through June 2026, guiding participants through the process of designing and completing a permanent mural for the school.

Students participated in collaborative design, composition, painting, creative decision-making, and large-scale public art production.

The completed mural serves as a lasting contribution to the Northgate High School campus and reflects Danny Devine Studio’s commitment to mentorship, public art, and student-centered creative collaboration.

Teen CEO Workforce Development Partnership

Homeless Children’s Education Fund

Beginning in June 2026, Danny Devine Studio began partnering with the Homeless Children’s Education Fund through its Teen CEO program, a workforce development initiative that provides young people with real-world work experience, career exploration, goal-setting support, and preparation for entry-level employment.

Through the partnership, Danny Devine Studio welcomed two interns who work alongside the organization within the shared Daily Bread × DDS retail environment. Their experience includes hands-on training in retail operations, customer service, merchandising, inventory, creative production, and the day-to-day responsibilities involved in operating a community-focused arts and apparel business.

The partnership expands Danny Devine Studio’s workforce development work by creating paid, practical learning opportunities that help young people build confidence, develop professional skills, and explore pathways within retail, art, design, and creative entrepreneurship.

Summer 2026

MYDC Summer Choice Camp — Year Two

Danny Devine Studio returned to Manchester Youth Development Center for a second summer of Camp Choice programming.

Building on the success of the 2025 partnership, students again participated in hands-on clothing production lessons using heat-press technology, apparel design, garment preparation, transfer application, and creative production techniques.

The returning partnership reflects the continued growth of Danny Devine Studio’s relationship with MYDC and its commitment to providing accessible, career-connected creative learning for young people.

Danny Devine Studio continues to expand its educational programming, public exhibitions, archival preservation work, community partnerships, youth mentorship, and creative production opportunities.

As we work toward establishing a permanent community arts center in Pittsburgh, this history will continue to document the people, programs, relationships, and creative milestones carrying Danny Devine’s legacy forward.
